The ones you never ask.
Ask and it shall be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door shall be opened.
- Matthew 7:7
What do you ask? Well, not just the easy ones like, which shoes am I wearing today or whether you’re going to “like” someone on Facebook… We’re talking about the tough questions; the ones you’d rather not face. The ones where the answers (especially the true answers) may be scarier than life the way it is right now.
Who am I?
What am I?
Why am I here?
What am I supposed to be “doing” with my life?
What makes my heart sing?
How do I live a life of joy and fulfillment?
Why am I searching… and what am I searching for?
What’s my connection with everyone else?
What’s the meaning of life?
What’s the meaning of love?… of fear?
Whether you realize it or not, you’re asking these questions all the time. But the questioning voice is soft, and timid, and very unsure of itself… and not at all confident that it’ll be ready for the answers.
You get ready for the answers by facing the fear of them. By accepting that it will be uncomfortable hearing and looking at them… at least at first.
It’s all scary… until it’s not.
These questions and many others you may think of are vital to you becoming who you are. Without them, and the unblinking truth of the answers, you just go on living the shadow of your real life.
And you’re past that point in your life where that’s OK… right?
See? You’re already answering the tough questions! Way to go!… now keep going.
